2019 Player to Watch: Alcorn RB De'Shawn Waller

Starting off our players to watch list for 2019 with the SWAC Newcomer of the Year De’Shawn Waller. Waller was a SWAC 1st team All-Conference and a FCS 3rd team All-American in 2018 after starting the year third on the depth chart and not getting the starting spot until the seventh game of the year. He lead the team in rushing yards and rushing TDs, as well as being 8th in the nation in yards per game with 120.6 yards/game. Waller is an extremely dangerous back, his combination of quick feet, patience, and strength makes probably the best RB out an HBCU. I expect Waller to eclipse his numbers from last year with his touches increasing with Alcorn’s second leading rusher from last year PJ Simmons graduating.
