NCAT EDGE Darryl Johnson Jr
Reigning MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Darryl Johnson Jr left school with one more year of eligibility, something rarely seen in HBCU football. But it is for good reason, in 11 games Johnson lead the MEAC in Sacks with 10.5 and Tackles for loss with 18. Johnson was listed at 6’5 232 Lbs this season, since the end of the season he has put on 21 Lbs after he was listed at 6’6 253 at the NFL Combine. His body is NFL ready but he has a lot of different attributes that will attract teams. Even at 6’6 he shows a rare ability to bend and get low at the edges. He also knows how to link his moves and keep his hands going. He’s very disciplined in the run, will stay home on read option runs. If Johnson is able to showcase his athletic ability, with a 40 time in the 4.7-4.8 range and good in a agility drills at his Pro Day, he may find himself getting taken in the 5-6 rounds.
